BillTriage Privacy Policy

BillTriage is built for people under financial stress, so its privacy rule is simple: your bills are your business. Everything the app does happens on your phone.
What we collect
Nothing. BillTriage has no accounts, no sign-up, no analytics, no crash reporting, and no advertising. We do not collect, receive, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. We could not show you your own data if you asked us to — we never have it.
What stays on your phone
- Your bills. Amounts, due dates, biller names, and payment history are stored only on your device, in an encrypted database (SQLCipher). The encryption key is kept in your phone's hardware-backed secure storage.
- Scanned images. Text is read from bill photos on your device using on-device text recognition. By default the photo is deleted right after you confirm the bill. Images are never uploaded anywhere.
- Account numbers. The app masks account numbers as soon as a scan is read and keeps at most the last 4 digits.
What leaves your phone
- Nothing automatically. The app makes no network requests to us — we run no servers for it.
- Payment links. If you tap a link to a biller's website, it opens in your browser. From there, the biller's own privacy policy applies.
- Backups you export. You can export an encrypted backup file protected by a passphrase you choose, and share or store it wherever you decide. That is entirely in your hands — we never see it.
Notifications
Bill reminders are local notifications scheduled on your device. They are not sent through any server.
Purchases
The app is sold through Google Play. Google processes the purchase and shows us standard sales reports; we never see your payment details. Google's privacy policy applies to the transaction.
Children
BillTriage is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 18.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling the app deletes everything, because everything lives in the app. There is nothing to request from us and nothing for us to delete.
This website
- No cookies, no analytics, no third-party scripts or fonts. Every page is static and loads only from bill-triage.com.
- The free tools run in your browser. Numbers you type into the calculators are never sent to us or anyone else and are not saved when you leave the page. The essentials-first budget can carry one number to the ranking tool through the page address; that is all.
- Hosting. The site is served by Netlify, which, like any web host, may keep standard server logs (such as IP address and requested page) for security and reliability. We do not use them to identify anyone.
- Email. If you write to [email protected], we keep your message only to answer it.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new effective date. Because the app collects nothing, we expect changes to be rare.
